How we use images
- We use photographs only when reuse rights can reasonably be established. Our sources are, in order of preference: official sources that allow reuse, Wikimedia Commons, other Creative Commons or public-domain sources, and images supplied by owners with permission.
- We do not copy images from news sites, travel blogs, hotel websites or stock libraries without permission, and we do not treat search-engine results as proof of reuse rights.
- Every external image has a source record: original URL, author, licence, licence URL, download date and where it is used.
- Where a licence requires attribution, the author, source and licence are listed on our Photo credits page, linked from the footer of every page. Images under share-alike licences (for example CC BY-SA) are offered under the same licence.
- Images are self-hosted, not hot-linked.
- AI-generated illustrations, if used, are labelled and never presented as documentary photographs of the shrine, its facilities or events.
Reporting a concern
If you believe an image or text on this site infringes your rights, or you want a credit corrected, please contact us with:
- The page URL and a description of the image or text
- Your name and contact details
- Your relationship to the work (for example, the photographer or an authorised representative)
- Where possible, a link to the original work or proof of ownership
What happens next
- We acknowledge your request and review it promptly.
- Where a concern is credible, we disable the image immediately while we review it. Disabled images stop appearing everywhere on the site.
- If removal is appropriate, we delete the files from our storage and replace the image where needed.
- We keep an internal record of the request and our actions.
