The Raghunath Temple in the heart of Jammu is dedicated to Lord Rama and surrounded by a group of other temples. Work began under Maharaja Gulab Singh, founder of the Dogra kingdom of Jammu & Kashmir, in 1835 AD and was completed by his son Maharaja Ranbir Singh in 1860 AD.

The inner walls of the main shrine are covered with gold sheet on three sides, and galleries hold a very large number of saligrams. The surrounding temples are dedicated to deities connected with the Ramayana.

Nearby, the Ranbireshwar Temple on Shalimar Road (built 1883) is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
