Is a medical certificate required?
According to the Shrine Board, no medical certificate is needed to undertake the Yatra. However, the climb is long and steep in places, and cardiac, asthmatic and orthopaedic conditions can get worse with the exertion and the altitude.

Health tips for the climb
- Pace yourself. Rest in the shelters and don't try to keep up with others.
- Stay hydrated, but avoid heavy meals before steep stretches.
- Carry your prescribed medicines and a copy of your prescription.
- Dress in layers: the Bhawan is much cooler than Katra, especially at night.
- If you feel chest pain, breathlessness, dizziness or confusion, stop and ask the nearest Shrine Board official, medical staff or security personnel for help.
In an emergency, call the Shrine Board's 24×7 helpline 1800-180-7212 or the Joint Control Room at the Bhawan (9906019464), as published by the Shrine Board.
